Did you know that apart from the culinary uses of the passion fruit and its leaves, there are medicinal uses as well? Passion fruit leaves have several healing properties. Let us consider a few here which I am sure you will find surprising. Passion fruit leaves are Mother Nature’s idea of first-aid for bruises and scrapes. Simply crush a leaf and place on the affected spot for a few minutes until the pain lessens. After all, why swallow pain-killer pills when there are natural remedies which can be applied externally? If you find it difficult to sleep at night, you should befriend passion fruit leaves. They contain natural chemical compounds which have sedative properties. Brew 1 teaspoon of dried and crushed passion fruit leaves in 1/2 a cup of boiling water for 15 minutes. Drink before you go to bed and be assured of a good night’s sleep. Apart from their use as natural pain-killers and sedatives, eating passion fruit leaves is excellent for your hair, skin and eye-sight. That is because passion fruit leaves contain vitamin A and niacin. What’s more, passion fruit leaves are delicious when prepared as a salad. Yet another reason to like these wonderful leaves.
